Samoa Joe: I Wasn’t Asked To Send In A Message For Slammiversary, ‘It Should Not Mar A Great Milestone’

Samoa Joe has cleared the air as to why he didn’t have a video message at IMPACT Wrestling Slammiversary.

On June 19, IMPACT’s Slammiversary pay-per-view celebrated the 20th anniversary of the promotion once known as TNA. During the show, IMPACT played video messages from legends like WWE star AJ Styles, Sting (who is currently with AEW), and Kurt Angle; each one of them discussed their memories of TNA/IMPACT and congratulated the promotion on its anniversary. Fans hoped to see “The Samoan Submission Machine” send in a similar message, but he didn’t appear on the broadcast.

In a tweet on June 20, Joe stated that he wasn’t asked, or available, for Slammiversary, but he made it clear that the occasion was still a “great milestone” for the company. He wished IMPACT the best moving forward and stated, “Happy anniversary.”

Joe was one of the faces of the company for several years, and he’s one of the most decorated performers in its illustrious history. He is a former TNA World Heavyweight Champion, and he is the third TNA Grand Slam Champion. Joe also won the Mr. TNA Award in 2006 and 2007.

“The Samoan Submission Machine” signed with AEW, and he has been featured as an active member of the roster. He is also the reigning Ring of Honor World Television Champion.
