Mike Bennett On The NWA Locker Room’s Mindset: We Focus On Being Different And Giving It Our All

Mike Bennett wants to get more people talking about the NWA.

During an appearance on the Wrestling Perspective Podcast, Mike Bennett spoke about the NWA’s spot in the landscape of professional wrestling and how they, just like any other company, are fighting for fans’ attention.

“I think it’s one of those things where I think everyone kind of in the NWA bubble, I think they all kind of see Billy’s vision and I think they’re all kind of like alright, this is what we’re gonna do. We trust what we wants to do, and this is the path we’re gonna head. And there’s also kinda like a mantra in the locker room, where it’s like, especially at NWA, where you’re trying so hard to be different because there’s just so much wrestling out there. So the constant conversation in the NWA locker room is, what can we do to be different? What can we constantly do to be different? And I know when we’re there, and we’re at the tapings, the vibe is always very much like every locker room you go to where there’s wrestlers. We’re gonna go out there, we’re gonna kill it, and we’re gonna do our job, and we’re just gonna knock it out of the park.”

Bennett said that talent has a goal and they focus on putting on a great show, as well as standing out, and hopefully that translates to more viewers and a larger following.

“And I think we all kind of in our heads wish there were more eyes on this product or more people watching this or more people talking about this, but at the end of the day, I think what we do as wrestlers and as performers is we go, we’re gonna give it our all, we’re gonna give everything we can to this match, to this taping, to what we have. And then hold that vibe, that feeling, that passion trickles out into other people. And I think you feel it. I think there are certain matches and certain episodes where you’re like there’s more here. There’s more here, there’s more effort, there’s more passion, and I think we just need to focus on that.”
