Kenny Omega: Cody Rhodes Will Still Be In AEW: Fight Forever, I Wanted To Preserve His Legacy

Kenny Omega says Cody Rhodes will still be in AEW’s upcoming video game.

“The American Nightmare” left the company in February and later signed with WWE; he has been featured as a member of the RAW roster since he arrived at WrestleMania 38. Prior to his departure, he had been an executive vice president in AEW, as he helped build the promotion from the ground up.

In an interview with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Omega confirmed that Rhodes will still be in AEW: Fight Forever, the company’s first video game, which is reportedly expected to release later this year. He stated that he wanted to honor Rhodes’ legacy and importance to AEW.

“This may come as a surprise to people, but Cody is still in the game,” Omega said. “I was very passionate about making sure his legacy and position within the company were preserved.

“We’ve built this game from the ground up, starting everything from scratch. That’s why I thought this game could coincide with the birth of this company. You get to experience AEW from the beginning, from day one. The game is going to reflect a lot of that, even though our locker room is ever-changing.”

AEW first announced Fight Forever in December 2020; since then, the company’s roster has changed substantially, but it’s clear that Rhodes’ place in its history will be preserved in the game.
