Report: Adam Cole Suffered What Is Believed To Be A ‘Very Serious’ Concussion

Adam Cole is reportedly banged up, and it’s believed that he suffered a substantial injury at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door.

Previously, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful reported that Cole has been dealing with a torn labrum in recent months. The Undisputed Elite star took some time away from the ring leading up to Forbidden Door, but he wrestled in the four-way bout for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship at the pay-per-view. Many fans took note of the abrupt finish to the contest, when Jay White quickly pinned the former NXT Champion. Doctors then checked on Cole after the match, and he did not appear on the “Blood & Guts” edition of AEW Dynamite on June 29.

In an update, Dave Meltzer wrote in the newest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the finish was rushed because Cole suffered  what is believed to be a “very serious” concussion.

“Cole, who has been wrestling with a torn labrum (shoulder), suffered what was believed to have been a very serious concussion, leading to a rushed and awkward finish of the IWGP title match as Jay White pinned him,” wrote Meltzer. (H/t WrestleTalk)

Meltzer also noted that Cole is still dealing with the torn labrum, so surgery and/or rehab may be necessary, but that hasn’t been confirmed yet.

WrestleZone will provide more details as they become available.
