Reported Plans For SmackDown Women’s Championship At SummerSlam

Liv Morgan surprisingly cashed in her MITB briefcase last night on an injured Ronda Rousey to win her first ever championship gold in WWE. Rousey respectfully handed over the championship to Morgan afterwards and gave her a hug before leaving her in the ring to celebrate.

Speculation was that Rousey might be injured and the cash-in was an attempt to write her off TV for awhile, but the newest report from The Wrestling Observer says this is not the case.

The report indicates that Rousey is not going anywhere, and that the intent is fer her to wrestle Liv Morgan in a SD Women’s Title match at SummerSlam, presumably as a heel. A report circulated within the last week that Rousey wanted to work as a heel upon returning to the company, but her reaction at Royal Rumble made WWE go a different direction.

Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer said, “almost everybody figured it would be Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey at SummerSlam and it’s not.” Charlotte has not been seen since early May and has gotten married during her time away from the company.

It will be interesting to see which direction WWE goes with the Liv Morgan and Ronda Rousey storyline moving forward. How would you book the next few weeks of this feud? Let us know in the comments below.
