Report: AEW Talent Heard Colt Cabana’s Deal Wouldn’t Get Renewed, Plans Changed

Colt Cabana‘s time in All Elite Wrestling was reportedly set to come to an end before the company changed its mind.

Cabana’s contract was up a few months ago, and Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful reports that there had been rumblings about the company not renewing his deal. This caused an “internal uproar” backstage, with some members of the roster assuming that the move was linked to his falling out with CM Punk. But the subsequent shift in the plans (or lack thereof) of Dark Order, shifted this perception of the situation.

Likewise, Ross Sapp cited AEW talent who stated that they heard the company did not plan to renew Cabana’s contract. However, given his popularity backstage, plenty of talent “went to bat’ for him. Cabana subsequently wrestled at ROH Supercard of Honor after Khan bought the promotion. Ross Sapp’s sources indicated that Cabana is rarely at TV tapings, but it’s believed that he has been re-signed as a member of the ROH roster.

Cabana last wrestled for AEW on the March 4 taping of AEW Dark: Elevation.
