Reported Update On Santana’s Injury, Expected Recovery Timeframe

Santana is reportedly set to be sidelined for the foreseeable future.

The former Inner Circle member went down with an apparent injury during the Blood & Guts Match on the June 29 episode of AEW Dynamite. He was helped to the back, but specific details have ben unclear. AEW president Tony Khan recently confirmed the injury and stated that he could be facing a “relatively long” recovery.

In an update, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful reports that AEW sources noted that he suffered an ACL injury, which Santana himself said to some people he spoke to. At an event in Puerto Rico this weekend, he was seen on crutches, and he reportedly informed others that he hadn’t had surgery yet.

The information about the injury hasn’t been confirmed yet, but Ross Sapp cited AEW sources who expect Santana to miss 8-12 months. He also noted that, at the moment, there are no plans to stop using Ortiz despite Santana’s injury.

WrestleZone will provide more details as they become available.
