Laredo Kid Ready For ‘Emergence’, Sees Potential Tag Title Run In His Future

Laredo Kid is ready to show Chicago and IMPACT Wrestling fans what he’s all about.

IMPACT Wrestling is set to return to the Chicago area for Emergence and Second City Slamm in Cicero on August 12 and 13, and Laredo Kid is one of the many Luchadors confirmed for the weekend’s events. Bandido and Rey Horus are also confirmed for the Emergence lineup, and Laredo Kid recently spoke to WrestleZone about the importance of IMPACT not only hitting the road again, but also appealing to the Hispanic population like the one in Cicero.

“A lot of Latinos want to see this kind of show, like a Lucha Libre show. And right now, with Bandido and Rey Horus in the company, there are more luchadores in IMPACT Wrestling. And IMPACT right now is growing with all these tours in all these different cities,” Laredo Kid explained. “I think it is so important because right now, all this talent they use like Taya and now Bandido. They have a great roster and these wrestlers bring more fans for IMPACT Wrestling.

“Right now, this company is growing. They have a lot of talent with the roster they have, all the X-Division guys, all the heavyweight guys, all the [Knockouts] they have, and I think they just need some luchadores and some Latin people there. Right now they have they that, like Taya, they know that Lucha Libre is tied to her and then the other Mexican people right now. We have more fans right now in IMPACT on the Mexican side.”

Asked what he’d like to do on the Cicero events, Laredo Kid said that he hopes to just give his best and get the crowd invested in his matches.

While he’s not working with Bandido in Cicero, Laredo Kid said that he’s open to tagging with him in the future, even feeling like a tag title run could be in their future.

“I have done some tagging with Bandido, and I think we can do a great tag team [together]. Maybe Bandido and Laredo Kid can work for the tag team belts. I think that would be awesome.”

One feature match he recently took part in came on BTI against Johnny Swinger. Laredo Kid said that Swinger is unlikely opponent, but it also highlights the diversity of the IMPACT roster that allows him to mix things up in the ring.

“This is why I feel good because I have a lot of wrestlers that I can have good matches with. They have a great roster, and like you said, like it’s fun for the people [to see] that we can mix it up,” he explained. “If you see Johnny Swinger and Laredo Kid go one on one and then you say he’s not a luchador and we have different styles, but we can have a great match and people loved it that night.”
