NJPW STRONG Openweight Championship Match And More Set For 9/3 NJPW STRONG

New Japan Pro-Wrestling has announced the card for the September 3 episode of NJPW Strong.

This week, Fred Rosser will defend the NJPW STRONG Openweight Championship against Fred Yehi. Plus, John Skyler will clash with Lucky Ali, and Eddie Kingston will face Jake Something.

The preview, courtesy of NJPW’s official website, is as follows:

Main event: STRONG Openweight Championship Fred Rosser vs Fred Yehi

From his first day as STRONG Openweight Champion Fred Rosser has vowed to fight and keep fighting to retain the belt, and shine a light on partners and his opponents. In Hollywood last month, Rosser teamed with Hiroshi Tanahashi and Kevin Knight, and gave encouraging words to the LA Dojo’s Knight backstage, but was interrupted by Fred Yehi.

Yehi has been a consistent workhorse since the early days of STRONG, and his technical expertise has helped Young Lion partners, including Knight on more than one occasion. Yet the Savageweight wants to make a name for himself on his own, and took a step to doing just that when he defeated Bateman in the Vermont. Now taking his shot at Rosser, will a new era be born on STRONG, or will Rosser move to V2?

Eddie Kingston vs Jake Something

First time ever singles action sees Eddie Kingston face Jake Something. Something made a big mark on his STRONG debut weeks ago in the face of the Big Bad Brody King, but Kingston is every bit a badass in his own right, and will present hard hitting opposition for the big man Saturday night.

Lucky Ali vs John Skyler

The opening match of the night sees a pair of returns to STRONG action. John Skyler and Lucky Ali have both impressed in earlier outings for STRONG in Florida and Texas respectively, and now face one another one on one in a match that is sure to dictate future momentum on Saturday nights moving forward.

The card for the September 3 episode of NJPW STRONG is as follows:

NJPW STRONG (9/3)

  • Eddie Kingston vs.  Jake Something
  • John Skyler vs. Lucky Ali
  • NJPW STRONG Openweight Championship: Fred Rosser (c) vs. Fred Yehi
