AEW Dynamite Results (9/7): All Out Fallout, ROH Pure Title Match

All Elite Wrestling delivered an eventful episode of AEW Dynamite on September 7.

In the aftermath of the All Out pay-per-view, AEW president Tony Khan addressed the World Championship and the World Trios Championship. CM Punk reportedly suffered an injury at All Out after he won the world title. After the show, he was involved in a physical confrontation with Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks, who won the trios titles at the pay-per-view.

The show opens with a recap of the end of AEW All Out, when MJF returned.

In a taped address, Tony Khan welcomes everyone to the show and says he has been forced to vacate the world title and the trios title. Tonight’s trios match will determine the new champions. Meanwhile, as for the world title, there will be a Grand Slam Tournament of Champions, and the final will take place at AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam. He promises that AEW will be at its best over the next few weeks.

In-Ring Segment: MJF

MJF comes out wearing a Buffalo Bills jersey and gets a big pop. He says “the devil” is back and gets a big pop. He also calls Bills quarterback Josh Allen a great quarterback. MJF says he said some regrettable stuff, but he was kidding. He says he loves AEW and he’ll never leave. He says he loves the fans and tells them to give themselves a round of applause. MJF notes that the world title has been vacated, and there will be a new champion. He says he deserves a shot at the title, and his chip guarantees him a title match. MJF says Khan is paying him a boatload of money. He shares a story about a wise man who split the sea open and walked his people to the promiseland. He says he’s not saying he’s Moses; he’s better than Moses. He says he’s better than you, and the crowd finishes his catchphrase.

Jon Moxley interrupts and says he’s full of crap. MJF calls the fans poor lardasses who have the “worst football team in the history of the United States of America.” He tears the jersey off and says Josh Allen sucks. MJF notes he could view the world title as a bargaining chip and teases he could take the title to a “real wrestling company.” MJF says he could go work for the only Khan who really matters, “Jolly Old Saint Nick”. He references Cody Rhodes, calling him his hero, and Triple H, quoting his “Best for Business” line. Moxley tells him to leave the ring, but MJF takes his shirt off, but he leaves.

Moxley says he’s pissed off and embarrassed. He says he’s pissed off that he doesn’t have the title because what the title represents means a lot to him. Moxley says the title means a lot to a lot of people, noting that it stands for the heroes who stood tall during the COVID-19 pandemic. Moxley says the title represents slaying demons and everything he loves about the business. He notes that he lost on Sunday, and that’s on him. Moxley points out that he’s supposed to be on vacation, but now he has the chance win the gold. He previews the title tournament and says he wants “the ball”, so he’s going to take the shot. He says it’s time to be a legend.

AEW World Trios Championship: Death Triangle (Pac, Rey Fenix, and Penta Oscuro) vs. Best Friends (Chuck Taylor and Trent Beretta) and Orange Cassidy (with Danhausen)

Cassidy and Oscuro start the bout and feel each other out. Death Triangle briefly take control, but the trio gets dumped out of the ring. Cassidy gets launched onto them at ringside. The two teams brawl around the arena. Taylor dives off the ramp onto everyone. Back in the ring, Cassidy gains the upper hand. The Best Friends double-team Penta, but he rallies and tags Pac. He grounds Beretta. Fenix tags in and maintains the advantage. Beretta catches Pac with a stomp and tags Cassidy. He droops the Lucha Brothers with a hurricanrana but eats an elbow from Pac. Danhausen gets on the apron and distracts Pac. Alex Abrahantes pulls him off the apron, and Danhausen hits him below the belt. Pac confronts him, and Cassidy dives onto “The Bastard.” Cassidy nails Pac with a tornado DDT. Taylor tags in and gets double-teamed by the Lucha Brothers, but he fights them off.

Penta plants him with a backstabber. Cassidy dumps Pac with a German suplex. Penta hits him with a modified piledriver. Pac and Penta superkick Beretta, and Fenix gets a two count. Beretta gets a two count with the Awful Waffle on Penta. All three members of Death Triangle hit Canadian Destroyers. The Lucha Brothers hit the Fear Factor on Taylor, and Pac pins him with the Black Arrow.

Winners and new AEW World Trios Champions: Death Triangle

Tony Schiavone notes that the Dark Order is unable to compete for the trios titles due to injuries. Jose the Assistant again tries to recruit 10, and they reject him. Andrade El Idolo shows up, and John Silver is ready to fight, but Andrade and Jose walk away.

AEW Interim Women’s World Championship Eliminator: Toni Storm (c) vs. Penelope Ford

The two competitors feel each other out early on. Storm gains the upper hand with a flurry of offense, sending Ford to the outside. Ford slams her into the steel steps. She takes control and grounds Storm. The champion rallies with a series of strikes. She hits a running hip attack in the corner and plants Ford with a DDT for the win.

Winner: Toni Storm

A video package recaps Action Bronson saving HOOK from Matt Menard and Angelo Parker, with promos from both teams. They heavily tease a tag team match at Grand Slam.

The Acclaimed come down the ramp, but Swerve Strickland interrupts before Max Caster can start rapping. The fans chant “asshole” at him and he says The Acclaimed winning the titles would be a joke. Billy Gunn says this isn’t Swerve’s house anymore; it’s “Daddy Ass’ house. Anthony Bowens vows that The Acclaimed will win at Grand Slam.

Chris Jericho is backstage with Sammy Guevara, Tay Melo, and Anna J-A-S. Jericho says he’s better than ever, and he’s drinking from the fountain of youth. He says that’s why he was able to beat Bryan Danielson on Wednesday. Jericho says he’s the best wrestler ever and he’s the “B-We-B-C”. Jericho says he’s going to win the title because it’s his company, it’s his locker room, and no one will take that from him. Sammy Guevara says he’s going to beat Darby Allin’s “turtle-loving ass.” Jericho emphasizes that Daniel Garcia will have to beat Wheeler Yuta without them tonight.

TNT Championship: Wardlow (c) vs. Tony Nese (with “Smart” Mark Sterling)

Wardlow immediately overpowers Nese and powerbombs him. He powerbombs him two more times for the win.

Winner and still TNT Champion: Wardlow

Sterling distracts Wardlow after the match, and the champion goes for a powerbomb, but Josh Woods pulls “Smart” Mark out of the ring. Wardlow says he hears people saying he’s lost it and the momentum is gone. He says it’s time to remind everyone that this is Wardlow’s World.
