AEW Rampage Results (9/9/22): Sammy Guevara Takes On Darby Allin

All Elite Wrestling will deliver an action-packed episode of AEW Rampage on September 9.

Tonight’s episode will see the continuation of the Grand Slam Tournament of Champions, with Sammy Guevara and Darby Allin facing off, with the winner moving on to face off against Jon Moxley during next week’s episode of AEW Dynamite, and a shot at a future match for the AEW World Championship.

In the likely main event, ROH World Champion Claudio Castagnoli will defend his title against Dax Harwood. In his most recent defense, he defeated Ari Daivari on the September 6 episode of AEW Dark. Elsewhere, Serena Deeb will face off against Madison Rayne, and we’ll hear from Samoa Joe, as well.

The results are as follows:

Match 1: Sammy Guevara def. Darby Allin via pinfall

In a stellar opening match, Sammy Guevara advanced further in the Grand Slam Tournament of Champions, outdueling Darby Allin and stamping his ticket to a match against Jon Moxley next week on AEW Dynamite.

Things came to an end after Tay Melo ran down to the ring to stop Anna Jay from distracting anyone. Too distracted himself, Darby Allin was confused long enough to allow Sammy to hit a low blow on his opponent before hitting the GTH for the win.

In-ring segment

ROH World Television Champion Samoa Joe comes out to talk and says his title is open for business. Mark Sterling comes out with Tony Nese & Josh Woods. Woods wants a title shot, and Joe says he can have it tonight. Sterling shuts that down and says next week in Albany is better.

Match 2: Serena Deeb def. Madison Rayne via pinfall

Serena Deeb made short work of Madison Rayne tonight in their match, taking down the superstar pretty quickly in the battle between Professor and Coach. In the end, Deeb was able to trap Rayne’s arm and leg in a vicious submission, forcing Rayne to tap out.

Backstage segment

Jade Cargill asked if anyone will stop her after 37 consecutive wins. She makes it clear that she’s not slowing down any time soon.

Interview with Powerhouse Hobbs

Powerhouse Hobbs says he put Starks six feet deep and will now show everyone how much of a beast he can be in the ring.

Match 3: Claudio Castagnoli (c) def. Dax Harwood via pinfall – ROH World Championship

In a title match to close out the night, Castagnoli continued his reign as ROH World Champion, taking down Harwood in a hard-fought win.

Towards the end of the match, Dax locked Castagnoli in a sharpshooter, but Claudio was able to power out of it, and began hitting Harwood with a series of elbows until Harwood was dazed enough for Castagnoli to lock in his own sharpshooter for the win.
