Ric Flair Discusses Ricky Steamboat’s Return To The Ring, Says He’s Better Than 50% Of Guys Today

Ric Flair says he thinks Ricky Steamboat‘s looming return to the squared circle is “great” because the caliber of the legend’s talent will never be seen again.

The WWE Hall of Famer will lace up his boots for Big Time Wrestling on Nov. 27 at Dorton Arena in Raleigh, North Carolina. Per CAGEMATCH, this will be Steamboat’s first bout since 2010. He previously turned down a pitch to compete at Ric Flair’s Last Match.

On the latest episode of Flair’s “To Be The Man” podcast on Ad Free Shows, Steamboat’s return to the ring came up. “The Nature Boy”, who headlined the Ric Flair’s Last Match event in July, expressed that he’s happy for his fellow legend.

“[He’s] gonna be in a match soon, and I’m happy for him,” Flair said.

When Conrad Thompson asked him what he thinks about the bout. He wished everyone involved in it well and stated that fans should capitalize on the chance to see Steamboat perform because there will never be another wrestler like him. Flair went on to say that Steamboat is better than half of the talent in the business today.

“I think it’s great,” Flair said. “Steve Perkins is a great promoter. So I wish them all well, whoever all’s involved. I don’t know the situation, but I think it’s great. It’s one of those deals where nobody’s ever gonna be a Ricky Steamboat, so they might as well just watch him while they can and enjoy the opportunity because there never will be another Ricky Steamboat at any level.

“He’s better than 50% of the guys in the business today. He wouldn’t get in the ring if he wasn’t. He holds himself to a very high standard, and I imagine he’ll probably look better than the guys he’s in the ring with because he’s always in great shape.”
