Dustin Rhodes: Chin Locks Are Important, They Let Things Breathe During A Match

Dustin Rhodes is an advocate of the chin lock.

In a tweet, Rhodes responded to Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer when the latter claimed that it’s time to stop laying in chin locks during matches now that Vince McMahon has retired.

The veteran, who trains wrestling students at the Rhodes Wrestling Academy, noted that chin locks play an important role in the stories that are told within matches.

He stated that, when it’s used right, the hold gives the audience time to get behind the babyface. He also pointed out that matches shouldn’t be looked at like a constant sprint; instead, it’s important to let things breathe and offer some moments to get the story across.

Fellow veteran Bully Ray responded with a GIF that says, “Can I get an amen?”
