New AEW World Champion Crowned On AEW Dynamite Grand Slam

Jon Moxley is the new AEW World Champion following AEW Dynamite Grand Slam.

Following CM Punk’s injury and suspension in the wake of AEW All Out, a Tournament of Champions was held over the last few weeks to determine who would compete for the vacant AEW World Championship at the biggest Dynamite of the year.

On one side of the bracket, Bryan Danielson defeated Hangman Page and then Chris Jericho. On the other end, Sammy Guevara beat Darby Allin before falling short to Jon Moxley.

In the main event of AEW Dynamite Grand Slam, the Blackpool Combat Club members battled each other with AEW’s top prize on the line while MJF watched from the rafters. After 20 minutes of back and forth, Jon Moxley made Bryan Danielson pass out. The referee called for the bell and awarded Moxley with his third AEW World Championship—a company first.

The show ended with Danielson strapping the world title around Moxley’s waist as a sign of respect.
