Konnan: Kenny Omega Couldn’t Appear At TripleMania Due To Ongoing Legal Issues

It sounds like the ongoing legal issues for Kenny Omega aren’t going away anytime soon.

On a recent episode of the Keepin’ it 100 Podcast, Konnan revealed that he spoke to former AEW World Champion Kenny Omega about sending in a video for TripleMania. He said Omega told him that he couldn’t due to the ongoing legal issues that stem from the backstage altercation at AEW All Out between The Elite and CM Punk.

“I know there are some legal issues because I actually asked Kenny Omega if he could send me a video for Triplemania, whoever wins between Vikingo and Fenix because, you know, he’s the number one contender, and he goes, ‘I still can’t because of legal issues.’ So, there is something legal going on,” Konnan said. After his role in the post-show melee at All Out, Omega (and the Young Bucks) were stripped of the AEW World Trios Championship. The three has remained off of AEW programming since then, and Tony Khan recently told Variety, among other outlets, that he is unable to incident on it because the investigation is ongoing. It’s currently unknown when the investigation will conclude, as there has been a lack of updates that have been released.

During the same interview, Khan looked back on the challenges AEW faced at the end of its first year, when AEW Dynamite started to stall in the ratings. Read more about how Khan’s thought process about booking has changed at this link.
