Billy Gunn Comments On His Absence From D-Generation X’s Reunion On 10/10 WWE RAW

Billy Gunn addresses his absence from the October 10 episode of WWE RAW.

On the season premiere of the show, D-Generation X reunited and celebrated its 25-year anniversary. Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Road Dogg, and Sean “X-Pac” Waltman appeared on the show. But Gunn was conspicuous by his absence. As Road Dogg’s tag team partner, he was one of the group’s featured members. Though Gunn is currently signed to All Elite Wrestling, many fans were hopeful that he would be part of the reunion. However, the aforementioned quartet were the only representatives on RAW.

Speaking with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Gunn discussed the situation and noted that while he would have liked to be part of it, he works for another company. He stated that it was a collective decision, and it simply didn’t work out.

“Of course, I would have liked to have been there, but I understand that I work for another company,” Gunn said. “It was a collective decision. I’m not putting it on anyone. I’m not sour about it. We’re two separate companies, and it just didn’t work out.”

In recent months, Gunn has been featured alongside The Acclaimed (Max Caster and Anthony Bowens) in AEW. In the same interview, he described how they jell together, and he compared their chemistry to DX.

“We jell so well together,” Gunn said. “We’re not trying to fight each other. DX was so good because everybody knew their spot and none of us were trying to jockey for position. It’s the same here. We fit together in The Acclaimed, and we’re focused on doing the best thing collectively for the group. The goal is to make this the best this can be, and I’m here to help them be the best they can be. I want them to have the same success I had.”

In the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that AEW president Tony Khan agreed to let Gunn appear on RAW, but the company had to mention AEW. Per Meltzer, WWE subsequently decided against Gunn’s appearance.
