Report: Tony Khan Wanted AEW Mentioned On RAW In Exchange For Billy Gunn Appearance

It appears that All Elite Wrestling owner Tony Khan was willing to let Billy Gunn appear on Monday Night RAW if WWE agreed to his request.

In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter (via F4WOnline.com), Dave Meltzer reports that Tony Khan agreed to let Billy Gunn appear on WWE RAW for the 25-year anniversary of D-Generation X as long as the company mentioned that Gunn was currently part of All Elite Wrestling

“Khan agreed to let him do to the show but on the air they would have to mention he’s from AEW, or that AEW allowed him to appear or some wording, but there had to be one mention that in some form he works for AEW, just as WWE already did when they got Mickie James for the Royal Rumble this past year. WWE stalled on the yes or no, and then at the last minute would not agree to it,” Meltzer wrote.

Another report on this situation comes from Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp (via Fightful Select), who reports that WWE went as far as to prepare travel in Billy Gunn’s name as they thought the appearance was a real possibility. Another suggestion from All Elite Wrestling to make things work with WWE would be to have them use a “lower third graphic with an AEW logo” on RAW, but WWE wasn’t “keen” on making that happen.
