During the latest episode of Gentleman Villain, MJF sent in a question to the show asking how Regal will feel when he proves him wrong at AEW Full Gear next month. Regal responded by saying that he would be happy for him.
“I’m going to feel happy if he proves me wrong; I’m gonna be happy,” William Regal said. “Then he’s done something that I could never do. I’m happy that he’s in the position he’s in. I’m happy if you can get to that position, and he has. I’m happy for him. I’m happy for the fact that he’s as good as he is. I said that the other day.
“I’m happy that he’s as talented as he is because he certainly figured that out without going through 1000 matches or driving up and down. Whatever amount of time is, COVID was two years of that, so he’s certainly not been –he’s been getting very few matches, and he’s as good as he is. He’s incredibly good. As incredibly good as he is on a microphone and getting people to truly care about him. I’m happy for him.
“If he wins and beats Jon Moxley, I’m happy for him. I’m not gonna be happy for the fact that somebody who’s very close to me has lost the AEW World Championship. But I actually think he has a shot.”
When asked if he thinks MJF can beat Jon Moxley without taking shortcuts, Regal admitted he wasn’t so sure about that.
“Well, I don’t know about that. But I don’t care,” William Regal said. “That was just me when I talk about shortcuts that’s not taking shortcuts in the ring so much. That’s just taking shortcuts in life, in training. He just happens to be naturally talented at this.”
