House Of Black Returns On 11/23 AEW Dynamite

The House of Black is back.

During the November 23 episode of AEW Dynamite, the entire House of Black stable (Malakai Black, Buddy Mathews, Brody King, and Julia Hart) made their return after being away since All Out in September. After Orange Cassidy defeated Jake Hager, The Factory surrounded the ring and then the lights went out. When the lights came on, Black, Mathews, and King were standing in the ring ready to attack Best Friends and eventually The Factory. After the ring was cleared, Black grabbed a microphone and said, “Members of the House of Black, please rise.”

The stable has been absent for a number of weeks; Black hasn’t wrestled on AEW TV since All Out on September 4. Black and Matthews lost their most recent AEW match in AEW Rampage: Grand Slam; they lose to Sting and Darby Allin.  Black last competed on September 17 for Prestige Wrestling. Following his match, he cut a promo to let fans know he would be stepping away from the ring for awhile.

“I understand all of you have questions,” Black said. “What am I doing? Where am I going? Look, I understand and in due time, I will answer the majority of these questions. However, for the last 22 years of my life, I have never not once taken one step back and recalibrated my life and took a chance to look back all the stuff that I’ve done in-ring, but also the stuff I went through outside of the ring. I’ve never done that because I always had this attitude of like [horse blinders].

“I’ve done that for my entire professional career because I had this one attitude towards wrestling , which was you gotta think globally, not locally because if you think locally, you’re gonna get stuck at one place. That applies to everything, by the way. If you wanna branch out, you gotta not be worried about the little things. As cliche as that sounds, it’s what got me here in the United States. So for the 22 years that I’ve given my absolute everything, please allow me to take a few weeks, maybe a few months, to recalibrate myself and put it in perspective. I promise you, this is not goodbye. This is just a, ‘We’ll see each other soon.’”

Following that promo, conflicting reports came out regarding whether or not Black had requested or received his release from AEW. Ultimately, Black took to Instagram to shut down the release rumors and reiterated that he would be back.
