Roman Reigns & Sami Zayn vs. Kevin Owens & John Cena Set For 12/30 WWE SmackDown (Updated)

John Cena will be in action on the December 30 episode of WWE SmackDown.

On the December 16 episode, the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns was backstage with Solo Sikoa and Paul Heyman. He told the “Special Counsel” to summon WWE Official Adam Pearce. Heyman then proposed a star-studded tag team match for the December 30 show, where Reigns and Sami Zayn will face Kevin Owens and a partner of his choosing. Pearce responded by saying he’d go tell Owens, so the match has seemingly been confirmed.

At the end of SmackDown, Reigns made his first in-ring appearance since Survivor Series: WarGames. Reigns initially celebrated the fact that The Bloodline dominated WarGames, however he pointed out that they still have a Kevin Owens problem.

Reigns reiterated that he and Sami Zayn will team up to take on Owens and a partner of his choosing on December 30. Before long, John Cena appeared on the video screen and revealed he received a text from Owens asking him to be his partner. It was noted that Cena’s had a match every year for the last 20 years, but he has yet to compete in 2022. But “Cena Claus” brought fans an early Christmas gift by announcing that he will team up with Owens for the bout. In doing so, he will continue his streak.

This will be Cena’s first televised match since SummerSlam 2021, when he challenged Reigns for the Universal title.

The updated card is as follows:

  • Roman Reigns & Sami Zayn vs. Kevin Owens & John Cena

WrestleZone will have coverage of the show as it airs.
