Report: WWE Interested In Tama Tonga

WWE has interest in longtime New Japan Pro-Wrestling superstar Tama Tonga, according to a recent report from Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp.

According to the report, WWE has expressed interest internally in the superstar, who most recently took down WWE superstar Karl Anderson at NJPW’s Wrestle Kingdom 17 en route to winning the NEVER Openweight Championship. The report goes on to meantion that Tonga had an offer from the WWE seven years ago, but turned it down in order to stay with his brother Tanga Loa in New Japan Pro-Wrestling.

Elsewhere in the report, it’s noted that NJPW sources have revealed that Tama Tonga’s contract with the company is set to expire in “a matter of weeks. While it’s unknown whether or not Tonga will make the leap to WWE, the report does come following another mention from Fightful that WWE is also interested in Tonga’s brother, Hikuleo.
