Triple H On The Rock Appearing At WrestleMania 39: I Just Don’t Think It’s In The Cards

Triple H says he’s not expecting The Rock to be at WrestleMania this year, but the door is always open for his return.

During his Royal Rumble post-show press conference, Triple H was asked about the rumors about The Rock’s involvement in WrestleMania 39 and the likelihood he will be at the event. Rumors have been swirling about The Rock competing at this year’s WrestleMania, but Triple H said that it is unlikely it happens.

“Apparently he can’t get in shape in time,” Triple H said, referencing a recent report from F4WOnline.com. “That’s what all of you tell me. [laughs] He looked pretty jacked, I saw Black Adam the other day and I didn’t think it was the uniform.

“He’s incredibly busy and I can say this as a guy that — we grew up as two young kids fighting each other for the spot, right? Having battles and in the best way, pushing each other. We all were in that time,” Triple H explained.

Triple H recalled being at an event years ago where he saw a photo of himself and The Rock in a match, and you could see he had goosebumps. He said he sent the picture to The Rock and said there’s nothing like the rush of WWE and you don’t get that same feeling in movies.

“I know for him, and I know his family and his background and everything, there’s a part of him that if he could be here for this, if he could be here for this WrestleMania in Hollywood, he would turn over every stone and walk through fire to be able to do it if he could,” he explained. “I just don’t think it’s in the cards, but then again, you don’t know. I don’t know.”

It was noted that WrestleMania 40 is still next year. Triple H said that he and The Rock always have conversations with each other and they’d love to work together again, noting he has an open invite to come back when he can.

“We don’t lock the door, he has an open invitation to walk through it any time he wants, but he’s incredibly busy. I think that respect factor goes both ways, that he wouldn’t want to do it unless he could absolutely do it. There’s no way he would show up here and half-ass it, there’s no way he would come and not want to put every single thing he had into it to make it the best he could possibly be. So unless he can do that, it won’t happen but he knows the door is open. When he has the time and availability to do it, he can come in and electrify everybody.”
