Scott D’Amore On Mercedes Moné vs. Mickie James: We Have To Get This Done

Scott D’Amore is ready to help bring a dream match to fruition.

Ever since Mercedes Moné became a free agent, fans (and “Hardcore Country” herself) have rallied for the former Sasha Banks to finally step in the ring with IMPACT Knockouts World Champion Mickie James. They crossed paths in WWE throughout 2017 and 2018 in a number of multi-woman matches, but they’ve never had a one-on-one bout.

IMPACT Wrestling EVP Scott D’Amore recently appeared on Busted Open Radio and revealed he spoke to Moné for the first time at NJPW Battle in the Valley over the weekend.

“Got to meet Mercedes, our paths had never crossed,” D’Amore said. “Obviously, I’m a huge fan of her and everything she’s done. It was a great opportunity to meet her and chat with her after an unbelievable match with her and KAIRI. I don’t think KAIRI has ever gotten the love and respect she deserves. She’s outstanding. That elbow of hers is among the best in the business and maybe the coolest to watch. Her and Mercedes went out there in front of a packed crowd and put on a world title match that I thought was outstanding. The wrestling was amazing, the emotion was fantastic. Talking to her afterward, Mercedes is obviously a very focused and passionate professional. Her wrestling is top-notch, her attitude seemed great.”

James was also on the radio show and continued to push for their dream match to take place. D’Amore responded, “We have to get you two in a ring somewhere and get this done.”

IMPACT and NJPW will present a collaborative event titled “Multiverse United: Only The STRONG Survive” on March 30 in Los Angeles during WrestleMania weekend. No Knockouts matches have been announced for the sold-out show yet, however, Josh Alexander vs. KUSHIDA and Mike Bailey vs. Will Ospreay are confirmed.
