Tony Khan: Goldberg’s Free Agency Is Interesting, It’s Something To Follow

AEW CEO Tony Khan comments on Goldberg‘s reported free agency.

Fightful Select recently reported that WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg is now a free agent, as his WWE contract expired.

Speaking with Adrian Hernandez for Audacy’s The Bet 98.5 (Las Vegas), Khan was asked whether he believes Goldberg could potentially fit well with the AEW roster. Khan first responded by highlighting his respect for the legend and noting that he has a number of ties to the Jacksonville community.

“I have a lot of respect for Bill. I think Bill Goldberg’s a great professional athlete. He’s a great career in pro wrestling, and he’s a very nice person. He actually had a lot of ties around the Jacksonville community. His family is from Jacksonville, and they’ve done so much great work in the community.”

After Khan noted that he had come to know Goldberg through his family’s work in the community, the AEW CEO stated that the former world champion is a household name, and the news about his free agency was interesting to hear. Khan stated that it was something to keep an eye on and pay attention to.

“I think he’s a household name in pro wrestling, and certainly that’s interesting to hear, that Bill is a free agent,” Khan said. “So it’s something to follow, and he’s one of the biggest names in wrestling, and certainly will be something else to keep an eye on for us.

“But we have so many great wrestlers in AEW and so many exciting things happening in AEW week-to-week that it’s always an exciting time. But Bill is an exceptionally exciting name and one of the biggest names in the sport, so certainly that’s a big thing for us to pay attention to. I would take notice of that, and it is interesting.”

Goldberg recently stated that he has some ideas for a potential return to the ring. Check out his comments here.
