Penelope Ford And Kip Sabian Open Up About Having A Miscarriage

Penelope Ford and Kip Sabian open up about a recent challenge they faced, as the couple had a miscarriage.

On March 31, AEW stars Penelope Ford and Kip Sabian took to social media to share a YouTube video where they discussed what they called the hardest year of their lives. The married couple started off by introducing themselves by their real names and stated that this was their third attempt at recording and telling their story.

Last year, the couple learned that they were expecting. While they were “over the moon” excited, they were also nervous about the surprise of it, especially since they are both AEW wrestlers. They told AEW President Tony Khan their news and were met with pure joy from their boss. The hug they received from Khan wiped away their fears on the work end of things.

They had planned to have their first ultrasound at 11 weeks, but then her body appeared to be in her second trimester at only nine weeks. Sabian thought they were having twins. At 10 weeks, they were preparing to head to work when Ford noticed an “abnormal” amount of blood. They drove to the hospital and had her levels checked. Doctors couldn’t detect a heartbeat, leading to questions of when the conception date was. They also discovered she had a fibroid tumor the size of a cantaloup.

Ford shared that fibroids are common, but hers was large as it fed off the pregnancy hormones. They had planned to go to their scheduled appointment the following Monday, but unfortunately Ford experienced excruciating cramps and more bleeding on Saturday. At the hospital, they learned they had miscarriage.

Ford and Sabian spared the details of the process that followed, but they did go to their appointment on Monday and found out the fibroid was reading as a 40-week-old baby’s head. After being referred to a specialist, Ford had surgery to remove the fibroid.

Sabian said they wanted to share her story because people don’t talk about miscarriages despite one in four women suffering one. Ford added that they were grateful they discovered the fibroid and removed it when they did. Sabian concluded that they are sharing the story now because they needed time to grieve.

Ford was away from AEW between January and August last year. She hasn’t worked a match in AEW since in October, but she competed in a match against Sabian at DDT Into The Fight in February.
