If not for Montez Ford, we might have seen a Bianca Belair without a braid in WWE.
The RAW Women’s Champion was a recent guest on Cold as Balls with Kevin Hart to discuss a wide variety of subjects. When asked about her iconic hairstyle, Belair revealed at one point she thought about getting rid of it, but her husband Montez Ford convinced her that wouldn’t be a good idea.
“My husband, who I met in WWE, Montez Ford, he’s one half of the Street Profits, a tag team, he’s been watching wrestling since he was in his momma womb,” Belair said. “He was the one that talked me into keeping the braid. He was like ‘if somebody comes to a show for the first time, but they’ll remember the girl with the braid.'”
The reigning WWE RAW Women’s Champion went on to mention that she knew she had “made it” in the WWE during the Mae Young Classic in 2017. During a match against Kairi Sane — which she lost — Belair remembered fans chanting “EST” at her, letting her know that she was in the right sport and field.
“It was the Mae Young Classic,” Belair said. “I ended up losing that match, too, but everyone was chanting ‘EST,’ and that was the moment where I was like ‘this is what I was born to.’ It found me.”
When asked what her future goals are in WWE, Belair admitted she has her eyes set on one of the most decorated women in the history of the company.
“You know, I’ve defeated Sasha Banks, and Bayley, and Becky Lynch,” Belair said. “The only one I haven’t defeated is Charlotte Flair. So that’s one of my top goals, is to finally get to that mountaintop. You know, I just want to continue to go out there and represent people that look like me, and bring the diversity, but continue to just go out there and keep beating girls up and winning titles.”
