Mercedes Moné is reportedly set to be a free agent soon.
Moné lost the IWGP Women’s Championship at STARDOM All Star Grand Queendom on April 23, leaving her future up in the air. ‘The CEO” then stated that she will be at NJPW Resurgence on May 21, and NJPW confirmed the news.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reports that, as of this writing, Moné doesn’t have any more dates on her STARDOM deal, per members of her team. The report notes that the two sides are open to working together in the future, and STARDOM has been happy with their deal with Moné up to this point. However, if they do more business together, Sapp wrote that a new deal would likely require a “bigger renegotiation”, given the business Moné drew.
Sapp wrote that the reported extension to Moné’s deal covers NJPW Resurgence in May. NJPW sources weren’t sure about the length of the deal, but it was said that she’s scheduled to wrestle in Japan “for at least a while.” Additionally, Sapp wrote that sources in NJPW and STARDOM had positive things to say about Moné.
Moné is also reportedly working on more projects in television and film.
WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
Bushiroad owner Takaaki Kidani recently commented on Moné’s run in Japan. More information is available here.
