Wardlow Could Die Peacefully If He Was The One To Retire Goldberg

As Goldberg now sits as a free agent, the question is: who’s next?

WhatCulture‘s Simon Miller was recently at WrestleCon amidst the WrestleMania 39 festivities, and along the way, he stumbled upon a possible opponent for ‘Da Man’. As Miller made his way through WrestleCon, there was a chatter that the WWE Hall of Famer had called out a certain AEW star to be his next opponent. That man was the current TNT Champion, Wardlow.

Speaking with Miller, Wardlow clarified that he actually pointed to Goldberg and told him ‘Bet your ass I’m not next.’ Wardlow then explained that the two also had a brief conversation at WrestleCon. “Goldberg did walk through just a minute ago and we exchanged words,” he said. “Don’t know what’s happening behind the scenes, but we both mutually agreed that if the opportunity comes, we would love to see who really is next.”

AEW President Tony Khan recently commented on Goldberg’s free agency, stating that he’d be keeping a close eye on the former WWE Universal Champion. With the possibility of Goldberg potentially making his AEW debut, Wardlow admitted that a match with him would be a dream scenario.

“If you could have like Batista, [Brock] Lesnar, Goldberg, I put those three in the same category of like dream monster matches. We just heard ‘Wardlow’ [from the fans]. We haven’t heard that chant since Goldberg,” Wardlow said. “Man, it doesn’t get bigger than that. It does not get bigger than Wardlow versus Goldberg, it doesn’t.

With the 56-year-old still searching for a “proper” retirement match, Wardlow would be more than happy to fulfill that honor for him. “If it comes down to Wardlow is the man to retire Goldberg, I can die peacefully,” Wardlow said.
