The Acclaimed and Billy Gunn pick up a big trios win.
During the May 3 episode of AEW Dynamite, six trios competed in a Tres de Mayo trios battle royale. The action came down to Anthony Bowens and Billy Gunn taking on the trio of Kip Sabian, The Butcher, and The Blade. Bowens was able to toss out The Blade, but then he was almost eliminated by the other two.
Bowens and Gunn came back with stereo offense before simultaneously eliminating The Butcher and Sabian to secure the victory for their team.
The order of elimination was as follows:
- Varsity Athletes (Tony Nese, Josh Woods & Ari Daivari) (El Hijo Del Vikingo)
- Lucha Brothers (Penta El Zero Miedo & Rey Fenix) & El Hijo Del Vikingo (Powerhouse Hobbs)
- QT Marshall, Aaron Solow, & Powerhouse Hobbs (The Acclaimed)
- Dark Order (John Silver, Evil Uno & Alex Reynolds) (The Butcher/The Blade)
- The Butcher, The Blade, and Kip Sabian (The Acclaimed and Billy Gunn)
As a result of their win, Gunn and The Acclaimed appear to have secured a future AEW World Trios Championship match against The House of Black (Malakai Black, Buddy Matthews, and Brody King), but the date for the bout has not been confirmed yet.
