Sting is back.
On the May 31 episode of AEW Dynamite, “The Icon” made his surprising return after Darby Allin and AEW International Champion Orange Cassidy defeated the Gates of Agony (Bishop Kaun & Liona) in a hard-fought tag team match.
Swerve Strickland and Brian Cage were about to attack Allin and Cassidy after the bell, but the legend came to the ring with a baseball bat. The Mogul Affiliates were deterred by his arrival, so they didn’t attack.
Sting had been sent in recent weeks, as Allin had been focused on his pursuit of the AEW World Championship. Allin unsuccessfully challenged MJF for the title at AEW Double or Nothing. On the April 12 episode of AEW Dynamite, Sting said that “showtime” was almost over.
