Santos Escobar Compares The Succession Finale To Cashing In Money In The Bank

Santos Escobar is a big fan of the series Succession and sees some parallels with the aspect of the Money in the Bank ladder match.

SmackDown Superstar Santos Escobar was a recent guest on Out of Character with Ryan Satin to discuss a wide variety of subjects. When asked about his reaction to the series finale of HBO’s Succession, Escobar compared it in a sense to cashing in the Money in the Bank briefcase.

“I sort of felt that [Tom Wambsgans] could slide in last-minute cash-in the Money in the Bank suitcase,” Santos Escobar teased. “But no, as the finale progressed in the final minutes, I thought, okay, they finally understood what this was all about, why their dad was like that because he wanted to ignite that in them, and maybe because of the way he was maybe he hadn’t even decided, or maybe he thought he was going to be eternal and he was just playing with them.

“But in the end, I thought, well, they finally understood they have to work together to make this role. And then the true nature, the true colors of who you are, and going back to what we were saying and how you’re educated. They were educated to thrive and be the number one in a situation where they couldn’t be number one because they’re between siblings, and so it’s one of those shows that you really enjoy because there’s a lot of truth to it. You can relate to it.”

Satin believed if the Roys’ parents had been a bit more supportive from the get-go, things wouldn’t have ended the way they did. But Escobar thinks that led to a powerful message at the conclusion of the show.

“But guess what, at the very end, when Roman is sitting on the desk, and it’s all said and done, and Shiv was gone, and she already voted. We’ll find out later that she already voted. And he’s sitting [there saying], ‘Stop, stop. We’re nothing. We’re BS.’ What I translate is like we failed. We’re not good brothers and sisters. We’re not good. We just let it go. It’s not for us. And that’s it. From that point on, I was ready to know, alright, who’s gonna get the kingdom? Is it Greg? Is it Tom?”

Santos Escobar is scheduled to compete in a Money in the Bank qualifying match tonight on SmackDown against Mustafa Ali.
