Carlito Comments On The Rumors That He Signed A Contract With WWE

Carlito says the rumors are true… but it’s not the rumors you think he’s referring to.

Following Carlito’s surprise appearance at WWE Backlash last month, wrestling fans were hoping to see more of the former United States Champion. A new report suggested that he will, as F4WOnline.com’s Dave Meltzer reported (via Wrestling Observer Radio) that Carlito canceled an independent show he had lined up for July 15 in Canada. Upon canceling his appearance, the 44-year-old informed the promotor, Devon Nicholson, that he had signed with WWE.

This report was later corroborated by SE Scoops, who reached out to the promotion in question, Great North Wrestling. GNW’s Anthony Ambrose provided the following statement to them:

“Carlito informed Great North Wrestling EVP Jack Kilby on June 14th that he pulled out of our July 15th event in Smiths Falls Ontario that he had previously agreed to because he had re-signed with WWE and it would be a violation of his contract. He returned his deposit and we are currently in talks with several other ex WWE stars to replace him at the event.”

Carlito and WWE have not confirmed nor denied his status, but the former WWE United States Champion did have a little fun with the rumors during a weekend appearance for House Of Glory. Carlito took a mic and said the rumors were true… that he taught El Hijo Del Vikingo all of the moves in his arsenal.

Prior to his run-in at WWE Backlash, Carlito made two WWE appearances in 2021, including the 2021 Men’s Royal Rumble. After competing at the pay-per-view, Carlito returned to RAW two days later. There, he teamed with Jeff Hardy to defeat Elias and Jaxson Ryker.
