WWE SmackDown Results (6/30/23): Asuka vs. Charlotte Flair, Roman Reigns Returns

Butch defeated and Santos Escobar and LA Knight

  • Butch hits The Bitter End on Santos Escobar to score the pinfall victory.

Logan Paul, LA Knight, and Butch get into it after the match. Butch gets the better of them, climbs the ladder and grabs the Money in the Bank briefcase.

Backstage, AJ Styles says Karrion Kross beat him in three moves because he doesn’t play by the rules. He makes it clear that if Kross can’t keep his “Poodle” on his leash, he has someone who will handle her, referring to Michin, who is standing beside him with The Good Brothers. Styles says he accepts Kross’ challenge for next week.

Asuka defeated Charlotte Flair via disqualification to retain the WWE Women’s Championship

  • Charlotte Flair accidentally boots Bianca Belair in the face, who’s sitting front row when Auska moved out of the way. Belair jumps the rail and punches Asuka, and the referee calls the match at this point.

Belair and Flair get into it following the match and Belair gets the better of her. She ends up laying out both Flair and Asuka on the commentators’ table as the EST of WWE stands tall over both women.

It’s announced that Edge will return to SmackDown next week, as he will be a guest on The Grayson Waller Effect. Plus, Sheamus will challenge Austin Theory next week for the United States Championship.

Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns comes to the ring with Solo Sikoa and Paul Heyman. Reigns asks London to acknowledge him. The crowd offers a very mixed response. Reigns said it’s been two years since he’s allowed The Usos to say they’re the ones, but the truth is they aren’t the ones. He’s the one.

Reigns continues by saying he’s the only one who cares about his cousins and loves them. He says he’s the only one who has given them countless opportunities and allowed them into the promised land. The crowd tells Reigns that he sucks, and he responds by stating that it sucks when family betrays you.

The champion goes on to say that he’s the only one in this family who wants to give them a second chance. Reigns says he will give them an infinite number of chances if they come out, bow down, and acknowledge him, and everyone can move on. This brings out The Usos.

Jimmy says he thinks Roman has things twisted. In Roman’s mind, they want back in The Bloodline, but they are past acknowledging and apologizing. Jimmy said right now it’s all about consequences. Jimmy teases that the family has been talking.

Jey asks what might happen when Roman loses. Jey questions when was the last time Roman had been pinned. Jimmy responded by pointing out that it was three years ago. Jey wonders when the next time he’s going to be pinned, and Jimmy says it will be at WWE Money in the Bank. Jey claims that when Reigns loses on Saturday, the only person out of The Bloodline is him.

Looking ahead to Reigns’ loss, Jimmy says that when Reigns loses, he won’t be “The Tribal Chief” anymore. But Jey doesn’t want to be “The Tribal Chief”, and neither does Jimmy. They say they know who should be the new “Tribal Chief” and even though he’s tripping right now, he has their vote. The brothers both look at Solo Sikoa.

Reigns laughs uncontrollably but quickly stops when he sees Sikoa’s demeanor. Reigns tells The Usos to shut their mouths. He asks them if they think this is a game. Jey gets on the apron, and Reigns gets in his face. Roman tells him that he’s nothing without him and that he made him. Jey pie-faces Reigns, and before he can retaliate, he gets superkicked by Jimmy.

The two teams brawl until security comes out to try and break things up. In the end, Jey dives on Reigns and Sikoa outside as SmackDown goes off the air.
