Becky Lynch Feels An Immense Amount Of Pressure To Represent Women In Wrestling

Becky Lynch says she feels the pressure of representing women in her sport, as she wants to keep challenging the status quo.

Lynch has been a key player in the Women’s Evolution in WWE, as she has made history throughout her time with the company. Most notably, Lynch main-evented WrestleMania 35 with Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey, and the match was the first all-women’s headlining bout in WrestleMania history.

Speaking with Cosmopolitan UK, Lynch was asked whether she feels the pressure of representing women in her sport. She made it clear that she does, as she wants to make sure that women’s wrestling keeps moving forward and reaching new heights.

“I feel an immense amount of pressure to represent women in the sport,” Lynch said. “Not only for me and for what I wanted when I was a kid, because when I was younger, when I was a teenager, when I was watching wrestling, I couldn’t point at somebody and say, ‘That’s what I want to do.’ Because there was always a ceiling on what the women could do. They couldn’t be the main event of WrestleMania. Now, we’ve stomped that out.

“But I have a two-year-old daughter, and I want to make sure that it remains that way, that it never goes backwards, that we keep moving forward, that we keep challenging the status quo, that we’re the main-eventers.”

Becky Lynch stated that she wanted to be the first woman to main-event the second night of WrestleMania. Click here to see what she had to say.
