QT Marshall On Ambulance Match At TripleMania: I’m Excited, It’s A Little Scary

QT Marshall discusses competing at AAA TripleMania XXXI: Tijuana.

Marshall, who has often been seen as Tony Khan’s right-hand man behind the scenes in AEW, has a vital role backstage with the company, and he remains a featured on-screen talent. The veteran continues to compete outside of AEW as well, and he will have a major opportunity when he faces Pentagon Jr. (Penta El Zero Miero) in an Ambulance Match at AAA TripleMania XXXI: Tijuana.

Speaking with Scott Fishman for SEScoops, Marshall shared his thoughts ahead of the match, which will be mark his AAA Lucha Libre debut.

“Thank you to Tony who is letting me do it,” Marshall said. “You have two contracted AEW talents working for a different promotion working a pretty big angle. I’m very excited, but I think this will help my career overall and even in AEW to maybe change the hardcore fans’ mindset. I’m trying to turn them a little bit piece-by-piece.”

Marshall, who has competed for NJPW STRONG on a number of occasions, noted that he has viewed branching out and doing more with other companies as one way to get to the next level.

“I’ve always thought about how can I get to the next level without playing politics or just asking Tony because we work together every week,” Marshall said. “One of those ways was getting out there and doing more stuff.”

For Marshall, the Ambulance Match will be his latest first; he highlighted how he previously competed in Paul Wight’s first match in AEW and Brodie Lee’s AEW debut. Likewise, the Ambulance Match will be the first of its kind in AAA history.

“In AEW, I was Paul Wight’s first match, Brodie Lee’s first match, involved in the first-ever Bunkhouse match, first-ever Dynamite with fans again. I was in the first match there,” he said. “There have been a lot of things I can hang my hat on and say I was the first. This is very exciting for me. A little scary because I think it’s going to show a different side of myself, but also a different side of what I’m willing to do to someone else. This is not going to be for the fate of heart.”
