Rick Steiner Removed From WrestleCon, WrestleCon Issues Statement

WWE Hall of Famer Rick Steiner has been removed from the WrestleCon convention.

WrestleCon previously announced that Rick and Scott Steiner would be at the convention on August 4 and 5. The news came as a surprise, as Rick had been asked to leave WrestleCon over WrestleMania weekend earlier in 2023 after he allegedly made derogatory remarks toward Gisele Shaw in regards to her being transgender. The announcement that he would be at the August event sparked plenty of backlash.

On July 18, WrestleCon issued a statement in which they announced that Steiner had been removed from the convention. The statement noted that after discussing the situation with

After a thoughtful dialogue with Brian Bell from SB Nation’s Outsports and host of the LGBT In the Ring podcast, they agreed that Steiner needed to make some type of public acknowledgment or apology, and when he failed to do so within a 24-hour deadline, they made the decision to pull him from the event.

WrestleCon also stated that they have created the first draft of their Code of Conduct and Anti-Harassment policy, which will be posted on their website, and they will continue to work on it with the goal to create a safe and enjoyable space for everybody at the conventions .

WrestleZone will continue to monitor the situation and provide more information as it becomes available.

A previous report noted that Steiner’s comments did not lead to any heat for his son, Bron Breakker, in WWE. More information is available here.
