FTR Retain Tag Team Titles, Adam Cole & MJF Hug It Out On 7/29 AEW Collision

MJF and Adam Cole walked into tonight’s AEW Collision with gold on their mind, but couldn’t get past FTR. Fortunately for them, it wasn’t enough to break up their bond.

In tonight’s main event of Collision, the pair put on a stellar show, with the crowd into it from the very moment the bell rang. It was a back-and-forth affair for most of the match, but late, FTR began to gain some momentum. After MJF nearly looked like he had it won with some big boots to the groin of Dax Harwood, Cash Wheeler made the save, causing Cole to come in to get him.

With Cole now in the ring, FTR delivered a big hit to him, before setting up the superstar for the Shatter Machine. However, MJF did the unthinkable and quickly shoved Cole out of the way to take the finisher himself. He was able to just barely avoid it, but got rolled up in the process, and couldn’t kick out.

After the match, a stunned Cole and MJF watched as FTR celebrated, before Cole offered a handshake to both superstars. MJF couldn’t believe that they lost, saying that he blew it over and over. Cole gave him some words of encouragement, before bringing MJF’s AEW World Championship into the ring and reminding him who he was.

As MJF got up, however, he slowly began to ready to attack Cole with the belt. Cole seemed to sense this, and defeatedly held up his hands as he told MJF to do it. MJF didn’t, however, throwing the belt away before the pair listened to the crowd’s chants of “hug it out” and hugged each other in the ring.
