Kurt Angle speaks highly of Baron Corbin.
At WWE WrestleMania 35, Corbin defeated Angle in the Hall of Famer’s retirement match. He then won the King of the Ring tournament. However, his main roster run somewhat stalled after he took on the “Happy Corbin” gimmick. Corbin has bounced back as he has been featured on NXT in recent weeks.
Speaking on The Kurt Angle Show, the WWE Hall of Famer was asked whether he had heat with Corbin. When asked, he also shared his thoughts on what he thought Corbin was missing.
I do not have heat with Baron Corbin. He wasn’t my first choice to retire me at WrestleMania. I made that very well-known, but I didn’t mind having him there. I didn’t mind wrestling him. The problem with Baron is, right after he beat me, they pushed him really hard. He won King of the Ring, became King Corbin. Then they changed it to Happy Corbin. I don’t know what the hell they were thinking. [Laughs] So at that point, he was kind of dwindling down, and then they came back with the Lone Wolf Baron Corbin. He started coming back up again.
“But I don’t think he’s had the opportunity that he deserves. I think that they could push him a little harder, and I think that he would be in a much better place if they would do that. I just don’t know if they’re not crazy about him or what it is. But he is talented. He’s really good, he can cut a promo, just as good as anybody else. He’s great in the ring. I don’t know what the problem is. He’s talented enough to make it to the main-event level and stay there.”

Baron Corbin will compete in a buzzworthy match at NXT Great American Bash. He will face Olympic gold medalist Gable Steveson at the premium live event. The bout will mark Steveson’s in-ring debut.
