KAIRI Announces She’s Taking An Indefinite Leave Of Absence From STARDOM

KAIRI is preparing for a new journey and she is stepping away from STARDOM.

KAIRI hosted a press conference on Monday where she announced she was taking an indefinite hiatus from STARDOM Women’s Wrestling. KAIRI said the hiatus would begin in September so she could prepare for a new journey, noting that it was a positive decision.

During the press conference, KAIRI spoke about raising the profile of the IWGP Women’s Championship. She mentioned receiving various offers from other Japanese promotions, as well as overseas companies too. KAIRI also contemplated retirement at one point.

KAIRI thanked STARDOM President Rossi Ogawa, who always stood by her side, and the fans that supported her.

KAIRI’s Next Move

KAIRI’s announcement follows a report from Mike Johnson of PWInsider that claims she agreed to return to WWE. It was noted that KAIRI (Kairi Sane in WWE) could return imminently.

KAIRI appeared at All Japan Pro-Wrestling’s event on August 6 to announce she will compete for the promotion on September 8. KAIRI and Saori Anou will face Unagi Sayaka and an unnamed partner of Sayaka’s choosing.

F4WOnline’s Dave Meltzer (via Wrestling Observer Radio) speculated that Kairi Sane’s WWE return could take place in November, as she has more dates in Japan to fulfill.

Kairi Sane competed in WWE from 2017 until December 2021. During her time with the company, she won the NXT Championship and the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship. Sane also won the Mae Young Classic tournament.
