Billy Corgan: Tyrus Is Serious About Retiring If He Loses At NWA 75

There’s a chance Billy Corgan could be losing one of his marquee names after NWA 75.

National Wrestling Alliance owner Billy Corgan was a recent guest on Sports Guys Talking Wrestling. When asked about Tyrus‘ retirement stipulation for NWA 75, Corgan said it’s something Tyrus is very serious about.

“Tyrus is pretty serious about he’s kind of towards the end of this thing,” Billy Corgan said. “When he’s talking about retirement, he’s serious here. He really feels that if he can’t be at the top, then he’s pretty much-proven anything he’s gonna prove in this business. And certainly, he’s accomplished everything he’s ever set out to do, including becoming the NWA World’s Heavyweight Champion.”

Corgan said the bull rope match is being done as a tribute to Tyrus’ mentor, Dusty Rhodes.

“Then of course, Tyrus really I think, in tribute to Dusty [Rhodes], his great mentor, he wanted to make this a bull rope match,” Billy Corgan continued. “I think he wanted to say, look, if we’re going to go here, we’re gonna put my career on the line, and we’re going to push each other to the absolute limit. So that whoever walks out of the ring champion will legitimately be the world champion.”
