Former AEW producer BJ Whitmer has been indicted following his arrest earlier this year.
As previously reported, Whitmer was arrested in June and charged with strangulation in the first degree and burglary in the second degree. The victim then spoke with FOX 19 Now and described how she was fighting for her life, as she alleged that Whitmer threatened to kill her.
Per Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, Whitmer was indicted on first-degree strangulation and second-degree burglary at a September 6 hearing. Both charges are class C felonies.
Additionally, Sapp wrote that there is an EPO in place with the victim and AEW is working with her. A pretrial hearing is scheduled for October 4.
Sapp subsequently clarified that AEW is working with the victim on her safety and security.
WrestleZone will continue to monitor the situation and provide information as it becomes available.
AEW’s Statement On BJ Whitmer
AEW terminated BJ Whitmer after his arrest and issued the following statement to Fightful:
“B.J. Whitmer has been terminated following his arrest on domestic violence charges,” said AEW in its statement. “While talent and staff are ultimately responsible for their own personal actions, this behavior is intolerable within AEW. AEW has reached out to offer support to those impacted by his behavior.”
Whitmer, a four-time ROH World Tag Team Champion, started working with AEW as a producer in 2019.
