Ilja Dragunov shares his thoughts on potentially getting called up to WWE‘s main roster.
Former NXT UK Champion Ilja Dragunov has become one of NXT’s top stars in recent months. On the September 12 episode of WWE NXT, he will face Wes Lee in a match to determine NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes’ challenger at NXT No Mercy.
Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Ilja Dragunov was asked whether he wants to spend more time in NXT or get called up to the main roster.
“It’s a good question,” Ilja Dragunov said. “It’s always about having a specific goal. I have no opinions. So on the other side, I will say, if I will stay in NXT for a while, it’s nothing that makes me unhappy because I’m not in a rush. I entirely enjoy the journey. I entirely enjoy not always to know everything and to see everything in front of me, being surprised, being challenged.
“The surprise of life and all its journey is the most precious thing to me. If I would know everything and it would be good after goal after goal. That’s not what art is all about. This business is performance art, and I am an artist 100%.”
WrestleZone will have coverage of WWE NXT as it airs on September 12.
