Max To Add Sports Tier For $10 Per Month After Promo Period

Live sports are coming to Max.

In August, Alex Sherman of CNBC reported that Max was looking to add live sports in time for the beginning of the Major League Baseball playoffs. That move has been made official.

Per Alex Weprin of The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. Discovery‘s streaming platform will launch the Bleacher Report Sports Add-On or B/R Sports, a “premium sports tier” on October 5. The move comes in time for the Major League Baseball playoffs. The tier will cost $10 per month, in addition to the monthly cost of a Max subscription. It will be free for a promotional period through the end of February, meaning it will end shortly before March Madness begins.

B/R Sports will feature MLB. NBA, and NHL games. NCAA March Madness, U.S. National Team Soccer, and The Match will air on the service, Per Weprin, WBD said the platform will stream over 300 live games on a weekly basis. It will also have live Bleacher Report video content and a library.

AEW was not mentioned in the report. Sports Business Journal‘s John Ourand reports that AEW will not be part of the Bleacher Report Sports Add-On tier at this time.

WBD is AEW’s primary broadcasting partner in the United States. Tony Khan has made it clear that he wants AEW’s content library to land on Max.

WrestleZone has learned that Warner Bros Discovery has been pushing for 12 pay-per-views a year from AEW on MAX. It’s unclear when AEW’s new pay-per-view calendar will go into effect, but it’s definitely something that WBD is pushing for. More information is available here.
