Ric Flair: Charlotte Flair’s 17th Title Win Is The Biggest Thing WWE Could Do Now

Ric Flair wants to see his title record broken by his daughter.

Flair spoke with Chris Van Vliet about on Charlotte Flair potentially breaking the all-time world championship reign record. As of now, Ric and John Cena are currently tied at 16 reigns each. Charlotte is a 14-time world champion in WWE (she also won the NXT Women’s Championship twice, but those were not considered world titles at the time).

Ric wants his daughter to not only break the record he shares, but he’d like to appear with Cena in the ring to congratulate her.

“I certainly hope it happens. I don’t know what they’re doing right now. But who knows? It’s got to happen. It’d be the biggest thing in the business,” Flair stated. “If they’re really interested in doing something — because I feel like the women have had more empowerment right now than they ever had, and [they deserve it], right?”

A ratings success?

“If they were — the biggest thing that could happen, John and I talked about all of this, John Cena. Can you imagine us walking down and congratulating Charlotte? What kind of rating would that get on TV, to see that finally happen? I mean, I think it’s the biggest thing they could do right now.”

Van Vliet noted how Cena is back in WWE now, but it doesn’t feel like he’s been primed for a world title reign. Ric Flair said Cena is available because of the SAG-AFTRA writer’s strike, but he “would have no problem with John breaking [the record].”

Van Vliet said it still feels like it’s Charlotte‘s record to earn, and Flair agreed.

“I wish for it for her, and I wish for it for the business,” he stated. “It’d be great.”
