WWE star Charlotte Flair recently admitted that her feud with Becky Lynch hurt her confidence during one of the biggest rivalries of her career. Flair explained that hearing fans cheer Lynch while booing her made her feel insecure in the ring.
Flair and Lynch share one of WWE’s most famous rivalries. The two stars started as close friends before their relationship turned into a heated rivalry both on-screen and behind the scenes. During the feud, Lynch played the heel character but still received huge cheers from fans, while Flair often got booed despite being the babyface.
The 14-time WWE Women’s World Champion recently admitted that the crowd reactions affected her mentally at the time.
Charlotte Flair reflects on WWE fans booing her during Becky Lynch rivalry
Speaking on TMZ Sports’ Inside The Ring, Charlotte Flair was asked if there was anything she would change when looking back at the rivalry. She said, “Everything. For me. For me. Not for Becks. Well, because, you know, she was the bad guy getting cheered and I was the good guy getting booed.”
“And instead of going, ‘Why are they booing me? Why don’t they like me?’ and then changing kind of how I worked, it kind of made me insecure in the ring where I could have been, ‘Dude, they’re booing. They’re reacting. Go with it. You know, soak all of that in,’ instead of shying away or trying to be liked. When someone is trying to be liked, that’s when everyone’s like, ‘Oh.’ So, I learned so much from that.”
