Report: Ace Steel To Work As Producer At IMPACT Bound For Glory

Ace Steel will reportedly work IMPACT Bound For Glory as a producer.

As reported by Mike Johnson of PWInsider, Ace Steel (Chris Guy), is in Chicago, the location of IMPACT Bound For Glory, and he will be working the weekend as a producer for IMPACT Wrestling.

The news comes a little over a month after AEW reportedly released Steel. He had been working in a remote position, specifically as CM Punk’s producer. However, AEW terminated Punk’s contract after he was involved in a backstage incident at AEW All In. Steel was reportedly let go as well in the aftermath of the incident. Per Johnson, one source explained that Steel is getting a tryout this weekend, as IMPACT hoped to have him come in previously, but he returned to AEW.

Steel has some history with IMPACT; during their days as TNA, he worked for the company in 2002 and once in 2003.

Ace Steel’s Controversial AEW Run

Ace Steel first came into the spotlight in AEW when he appeared on-screen as CM Punk’s friend and mentor ahead of AEW All Out. Steel, Punk’s trainer, has a lengthy real-life friendship with the former AEW World Champion. He worked as a coach and producer until he was fired for his part in Brawl Out, the infamous backstage altercation between Punk, Kenny Omega, and The Young Bucks. During the incident, Steel reportedly threw a chair at Nick Jackson and bit Kenny Omega.

Punk was also suspended for the incident, but Steel was brought back with a remote position head of Punk’s own return in June 2023.

Steel also worked as a coach for WWE. He signed with the company in November 2019, and he was later furloughed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He returned in October 2020, but the company released him in January 2022.

WrestleZone will monitor the situation and provide more information as it becomes available.
