Report: Ace Steel Re-Hired By AEW Several Months Ago

Ace Steel might have been fired from All Elite Wrestling last year, but it appears he’s been back in the fold for quite some time, with the return of CM Punk being in the plans for a while.

According to a recent report from Haus of Wrestling, Ace Steel was re-hired by All Elite Wrestling “several months ago” and has been working with the company remotely with Tony Khan on the creative side of the company.

It was agreed upon at the time that Steel would return to the road with the company with the launch of AEW Collision next month, working as an agent for the show, but the company recently decided against that decision.

Punk was informed of the decision shortly after that, which reportedly resulted in miscommunication between lawyers. This is what caused CM Punk to be pulled from the Collision announcement on Wednesday.

Despite all of this, Hausman stated that Punk is still with the company and reportedly motivated in wanting to help grow the company any way he can.

As for Punk’s relationship with Tony Khan, Hausman describes it as being on “sound footing” and that there are no issues between them. Last night on Fightful’s AEW Dynamite post-show, Sean Ross Sapp revealed that he heard Khan and Punk had a “hilariously positive” interaction yesterday but didn’t elaborate on what that meant.
