ICP’s Shaggy 2 Dope Wasn’t Trying To Dropkick Fred Durst, He Was Messing Around

Violent J of the Insane Clown Posse is again clearing the air on the time that Shaggy 2 Dope tried to dropkick Fred Durst.

The Insane Clown Posse and Limp Bizkit love themselves some professional wrestling. Both groups were integral parts of different points of the WWE’s Attitude Era. However, there was one time during the Rock Allegiance festival in 2018 that Shaggy 2 Dope tried to tap into his inner Ricky Morton and dropkick Fred Durst.

During a recent interview with Sam Roberts and Jim Norton, Violent J says that his ICP tag team partner was just messing around.

“He did not try to hit Fred Durst. He was simply doing what it looks like, he was playing. It was a bad decision, I guess, but he wasn’t actually trying to hit him. He was just trying to be like, ‘Dropkick,’ and he’s drunk and feeling good. He bugged and ran out on stage and threw a fake dropkick, you know? Lethal, Lethal was like, ‘Fuck that fucking dude!’ I tried to talk to him and he just wasn’t responding.

Fred laughed it off, called Shaggy a pussy, and continued the show. Limp Bizkit’s DJ Lethal, on the other hand, wasn’t having it.

It’s Rock and Roll History

Continuing on, Violent J says he eventually reached out to Fred Durst via Instagram and Fred was completely cool with what happened, noting that it’s now part of Rock history.

“Finally, time went by, and just recently, I’m realizing with the wonders of Instagram how you can reach out. So I pull up Fred and I was like, ‘What’s up, bro?’ And he was like, ‘Sup?’ And I was like, ‘Dope. Let me talk to you about what happened.’ He’s like, ‘Hey, it’s Rock And Roll history now.’ I’m like, ‘That’s awesome.’ He wasn’t mad. He’s cool as fuck.”

Years later, Violent J is working with the NWA, which is spearheaded by another rockstar, Billy Corgan. Violent J will be appearing at NWA Samhain alongside the Brothers of Funstruction.
