Chris Jericho: It’s Natural For AEW To Come To Japan

Chris Jericho thinks AEW coming to Japan would be a natural progression for the company.

Chris Jericho previously had a memorable run in NJPW, and he held the IWGP Intercontinental Championship. He last wrestled in Japan at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 14 in 2020. On November 12, the former AEW World Champion will face Konosuke Takeshita at DDT Ultimate Party 2023, which will mark his return to Japan.

“The emphasis is on the growth of the organization itself and how much of an impact we can make,” Chris Jericho said. “That’s why we gather the best wrestlers from all over the world. In terms of growth, we recently had 81,000 people at Wembley Stadium in London, England.

“I think it is natural for AEW to come to Japan, since we have our expansion outside of Japan in mind, and I think that something like an AEW raid on DDT or New Japan will happen in the future. That’s why we are strategically focusing on developing young wrestlers and showing the fans something new.”

As of this writing, AEW has not held an event in Japan. The company hosted its first show overseas with AEW All In at Wembley Stadium in August.
