Report: #1 Contender’s Match On 11/6 WWE RAW Had Botched Finish

The four-way match on the November 6 episode of WWE RAW reportedly did not go according to plan.

On Monday’s show, Ivar, Ricochet, The Miz, and Bronson Reed faced off in a Number One Contender’s match for Gunther’s WWE Intercontinental Championship. WWE announced that the winner of the bout would challenge for the title at WWE Survivor Series.

The Miz scored the win, but the ending of the match was awkward. The Miz dodged a diving Bronson Reed and pinned him while Ivar pinned Ricochet. It seemed like the conclusion went awry, but The Miz was declared the winner.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer reports that Ricochet was not supposed to kick out. He wrote that the match was meant to end with a double pin. Meltzer noted that he believed Ricochet was rocked earlier in the match on a spot where he hit his head.

Ivar attacked The Miz after the match to set up a singles bout between the two of them on the November 13 episode of RAW.

As of this writing, WWE has not posted the official match graphic for The Miz vs. Gunther at WWE Survivor Series. The company confirmed the other bouts that were confirmed for Survivor Series following the November 6 episode of RAW.

WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
